🚨 Emergency Heat Help Needed by Wednesday!

From Thursday through Sunday, Cotton Branch Refuge is preparing for one of the most dangerous heat stretches of the year for the animals in our care.

The heat index is expected to be over 100 degrees each day, with heavy humidity that makes it even harder for animals to cool their bodies down

We need to raise $3,000 by Wednesday, July 1st

We need to buy supplies, prepare cooling areas, and get the refuge heat-ready before the worst of it arrives.

We cannot wait until Thursday to get ready.

Give Now for Emergency Heat Prep!

Your gift helps us act immediately.

Emergency heat prep includes:

  • New hoses to keep water moving across the refuge

  • Misting systems to help animals cool down

  • Extra water stations and refill supplies

  • Cooling supplies for vulnerable animals

  • More watermelon for Saturday’s Watermelon Bash

Saturday’s Watermelon Bash is still happening, but with this forecast, watermelon is more than a fun summer treat.

  • It is hydration.

  • It is cooling.

  • It is comfort.

  • It is one more way we help the animals make it through a brutally hot day.

Why is this urgent?

Every gift helps us get heat-ready.

  • $5 helps us move quickly.

  • $25 helps with watermelon, water refills, and cooling supplies.

  • $50 helps support hoses, water stations, and daily heat prep.

  • $100 helps us get misting systems and urgent cooling support in place.

  • $250 makes a major difference before the heat arrives.

  • "We cannot wait until the heat is already here. We need hoses, misters, water stations, watermelon, volunteers, and emergency support in place before Thursday."

    —Evan | Executive Director

  • "When the heat index is over 100, daily care becomes emergency care. We need help now so the animals stay safe through this dangerous stretch."

    —Josh | Operations Director

  • "In heat like this, the little things become lifesaving things. Every donation and every volunteer shift helps us stay ahead of a dangerous week."
