One of the reasons that the property in Leesville was selected was that it has 3 ponds, each one with slightly different qualities. We wanted to have a place where some of the CWC wildlife patients could be released. These include ducks, geese and herons whose injuries are severe enough to prevent them from being released into the "real wild". At our sanctuary, we have the Pyrennees guard dogs keeping out any foxes, coyotes or pack dogs. We can supplement food in the winter. Two of the ponds are secluded and surrounded by thick growth - ducks and herons like this! The third pond is more open and has much less growth around it - geese like this! So far we have released 3 ducks, 4 Canada geese and a Green Heron!
